Eventful Monday, Part II

Yesterday, like a good New Englander, I went to my first pro football game. Apparently people up here take football very seriously.

Nathanael's Dad was kind enough to get us seats *this* close to the game:

From here, we had a great view--
the pretty sunset

good-looking fans

Oh, right, and we also watched football. That can be found here.

Although it was pretty neat to see a football game in person and up close, I must say that the T.V. gives you much better atmosphere (my immediate company excepted, of course). As I watched the game with the oh-so-pleasant (and predominately male) crowd of fans around me, reminders of my junior-high view of the male gender kept flooding back to me. Somehow, football games have the curious effect of turning grown men into teenage boys. They become:

Not self-controlled (Do you really need four beers before the end of the first quarter?? At least it had a sedentary effect on the row in front of me. Not so for the row behind...),
Clumsy (Yes, cheering by flailing your arms around while holding a beer will result in disaster, fyi.),
Not-so-bright ("Clean up" your spilled beer from the back of my seat by spreading it around with your hand and making the whole seat sticky. Brilliant!),
Inconsiderate ("If it makes you feel better, I spilled some on me too" is the new apology. He could have at least bought me a beer.),
Inarticulate (Really, if you are going to swear that much, you could at least use more than two different words.),
Animal-like (Cheering can apparently also be accomplished by making a noise vaguely reminiscent of a wolf howling. Or possibly another animal... who knows?)
Overly simplistic (The other team's fans are my enemy. Must yell at them. Preferably with lots of curse words.), and
Followers of the crowd (If the entire crowd is chanting a curse word simultaneously, it must be ok, right?).

But hey, on the bright side, drunk fans of the winning team are everyone's best friend after the game. Good thing we won ;).
